Here are three takeaways from tonight’s win:
Defense played hard on both sides
Florida did not give Oklahoma an easy time Thursday night. The Gators played a tough defense,
forcing Oklahoma turnovers and stealing the ball six times and blocking it twice. In the first quarter, Florida was earning a majority of its points off Oklahoma turnovers. At the end of the first 10 minutes, the Sooners gave the Gators 10 points off seven turnovers. OU finished with 19 turnovers, giving Florida 17 points.
On the defensive end, theSooners had 12 steals and four blocks. This is the third most steals by the Sooners during conference play. From the field, Oklahoma held Florida under its average shooting percentage of 46.8%. The Gators shot 31.4% from the floor, making 22 of 70 attempts. OU finished making 31 of 71 shots, shooting 43.7%.

Liz Scott stepped up
Redshirt senior center/forward Liz Scott was a key player for the Sooners against the Gators. Due to junior center Raegan Beers’ foul trouble late in the second quarter and early in the third, the redshirt senior took control inside the paint.
Scott worked her way in between the ball and the hoop, trying to prevent her opponent from making a basket. She was one of the top scorers for the Sooners with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Offense took over
On Thursday, Oklahoma’s offense took the lead and ran with it. Throughout the entire game, the Sooners only trailed for 16 seconds. Six Sooners scored in double digits against the Gators. Senior guard Payton Verhulst led Oklahoma with 17 points, her ninth consecutive game with double-digit scoring. Behind her, Beers had 16, redshirt senior guard Skylar Vann had 13, sophomore forward Sahara Williams, Scott had 11 points, and freshman guard Zya Vann had 10 points.
