A Norman resident is opening a Mexican restaurant on Campus Corner amid financial loss and her husband’s detainment by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Brianna Yowell, a mother of four, is the owner and founder of Mickey’z Corner, a Mexican restaurant set to open April 20 on Campus Corner.
Yowell is from Liberal, Kansas, where she first started selling Mexican food out of her home in 2019, quickly gaining popularity among locals.
“I started selling birria tacos out of my house, and then it just went wild. And all of my friends, the whole (city of) Liberal, was buying tacos from me every day,” Yowell said.

Freshman catcher Kendall Wells continued her historic season Tuesday, launching her 27th home run of the year in OU’s win over Wichita State to set a new Southeastern Conference single-season record.
Wells is now three home runs shy of tying the NCAA all-time freshman home run record and four away from having the record to herself.
The freshman will have plenty of opportunities to achieve the feat, with OU still having 17 games remaining in its regular season. The countdown will continue this weekend as OU hosts Kentucky for a three-game series, beginning at 6:30 p.m Thursday at Love’s Field on SECN+.

"What Does That Nature Say to You," 5:30 p.m. Friday, 8 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 p.m. Sunday: A Korean film about a man meeting his girlfriend's parents and the challenges that come with it, presented at Oklahoma Museum of Art. Tickets are available online.
"Two Prosecutors," 8 p.m. Friday, 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday: Set in the Soviet Union in 1937, the film follows an idealistic lawyer who wants to expose the mistreatment of an imprisoned writer, making him a target of Stalin’s police state.
