Former OU softball utility player Mackenzie Donihoo has joined Division II Northeastern State University as an assistant coach.

Donihoo, known for her power despite standing at 5-foot-3, completed 66 hits, 10 home runs across three years at OU and was named to the 2021 Women's College World Series all-tournament team after tying a WCWS single-game record  with two home runs. She later joined the University of Tennessee for her senior season and led the program to an appearance in the 2023 WCWS, along with notching seven home runs in her final year. 

Donihoo medically retired leading up to the 2024 season and is now reengaging with the diamond as a coach. She is set to work alongside Northeastern State head coach Cassidy Bowen, who was hired in July and feels excited about the addition of Donihoo.

"We obviously got a huge addition to our staff in Mackenzie," Bowen said on the RiverHawks SportsNest podcast. "This is somone who's played at the University of Oklahoma, who's played at the University of Tennessee, who has contended for national titles."
