Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Rainey Williams to the OU Board of Regents, according to a press release Wednesday.
Williams is the president of Marco Capital Group, a privately owned investment partnership operating in Oklahoma, Texas and the southwestern U.S.
Williams has worked for over three decades in business and investment. He has invested in private equity, real estate and other alternative assets for over 25 years, according to the release.
"Rainey Williams is a respected leader with a heart for service and a sharp eye for smart investments," Stitt said in the release. "His business experience, combined with his longstanding commitment to education and public health, makes him a natural fit to help guide the University of Oklahoma into its next chapter."
Williams currently serves as chair of the University Hospitals Authority and Trust, chair of OU Health and chair of the investment committee for the Presbyterian Health Foundation. He is the lead independent director at BancFirst Corporation and has held board positions with companies such as American Trailer Works, Benham Investment Holdings and Titan Spine.
Williams has also worked as an adjunct professor in the master’s program in OU’s Price College of Business. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Southern Methodist University in 1982 and his Juris Doctor in 1985 from OU Law.
On March 10, former Regent Natalie Shirley was honored during her last Board of Regents meeting. Shirley served as chair of the board from 2023-24. She was appointed to the board by Stitt in 2018.
“I’m honored by the opportunity to serve on the OU Board of Regents and support the university’s mission of academic excellence, innovation, and public impact,” Williams said in the release. “OU plays a vital role in shaping our state’s future, and I’m grateful to Governor Stitt for the trust he’s placed in me.”
