NOUN Hotel filed an application to expand its current building, according to a letter sent to nearby property owners.
NOUN requested a rezoning for 1.22 acres of property to add a first-floor ballroom, about 48 additional guest rooms and other amenities, according to city documents. These additions would be north of the original building.
The hotel, which sits at 542 S. University Blvd., opened in September 2022 on Campus Corner with 92 guest rooms, an in-house restaurant and a second-floor bar.

Krystle Ross, director of sales for NOUN Hotel, said the hotel had no comment, but might in the future.
Norman City Council discussed raising the guest room tax ordinance during its conference meeting Tuesday. The city’s room tax is currently 8% and is split between four entities including VisitNorman and Norman Parks and Recreation.
Director of Parks and Recreation Jason Olsen said during the meeting that the room tax of Midwest City and Oklahoma City is 9.25% and suggested raising Norman’s to 10%. Council will continue to discuss this at a later meeting.
A staff slideshow, which was presented to council Tuesday, notes that the city’s projected room tax revenue for the 2026 fiscal year is roughly $3.9 million. If room tax was increased by 2%, the city would receive $986,842 in additional funds, according to the slideshow.
Mayor Stephen Tyler Holman, Ward 4 Councilmember Helen Grant and the NOUN Hotel’s attorney did not immediately respond to OU Daily’s request for comment.
Norman’s Department of Planning and Community Development will host a discussion on the proposal for residents who live near the hotel at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.
