OU softball features 9 players on All-Big 12 teams, Kinzie Hansen named Defensive Player of the Year

Nine Sooners were named to the All-Big 12 teams, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Senior catcher Kinzie Hansen earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after posting a .986 fielding percentage with only three errors.

Hansen was joined on the All-Big 12 First Team by seniors Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, Alyssa Brito and Kelly Maxwell. Hansen and Coleman were unanimous selections.

The second team features seniors Rylie Boone and Alynah Torres, along with sophomore Kierston Deal and freshman Ella Parker.

Parker and Kasidi Pickering were named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.

OU led the conference with nine total selections on All-Big 12 teams.

Texas’ Reese Atwood and Mike White were named Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively. Atwood ends OU’s run of winning Big 12 Player of the Year after four consecutive seasons, while White snaps Patty Gasso’s 11 straight Coach of the Year awards.

Next, OU will face the winner of Houston versus Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
