Boyd joins the Sooners with extensive experience in college basketball, including four years as a student manager at West Texas A&M, three years as the director of basketball operations at the University of Texas at Arlington, five years as the chief of staff at Texas Tech and most recently serving as the general manager for Texas Tech women’s basketball in the 2025-26 season.
In his new role, Boyd will oversee roster management, player acquisition, player valuation, analytics, name, image and likeness deals and revenue-sharing strategy, recruiting operations, player retention and governance and compliance. He will help align personnel decisions with Baranczyk’s vision for the program while adding structure to OU’s roster-building process.
In his most recent role, Boyd helped construct Texas Tech’s 2025-26 roster through the transfer portal, with five new additions in the 2025 offseason, which led the Raiders to a 25-7 record, a program-best 19-0 start and an NCAA Tournament second-round appearance. He also assisted with the program’s NIL allocation strategy and developed a centralized personnel system known as “Command Center” to streamline recruiting and evaluation.
During his six seasons in Lubbock, Boyd helped Texas Tech win 109 games and make three postseason appearances. The Raiders also won their first NCAA Tournament game since 2005 and tied for fourth in the Big 12 in 2025-26, the program’s best conference finish since 2013.
During his three seasons at UT Arlington as the women’s basketball director of operations, Boyd helped the Mavericks win a conference championship and total 63 victories.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in sports and exercise science from West Texas A&M in 2012 and his master’s degree in sport management from Texas Tech in 2015.
Boyd is the second general manager that OU has hired in the 2026 basketball offseason, third overall, following Lucas McKay, who serves as OU men’s basketball’s general manager after he was hired on April 6.
