OU women’s basketball (21-6, 9-5 SEC) rose to No. 7 in the AP Poll after three consecutive AP Top 25 victories against No. 24 Alabama (21-7, 7-7 SEC), No. 23 Georgia (20-7, 6-7 SEC) and then-No. 21 Tennessee (16-10, 8-6 SEC).

The Sooners are No. 5 of nine Southeastern Conference teams ranked in this week's AP Poll. The SEC programs included are as follows:

• No. 3 South Carolina (27-2, 13-1 SEC)

• No. 4 Texas (26-3, 11-3 SEC)

• No. 5 Vanderbilt (25-3, 11-3 SEC)

• No. 6 Louisiana State (24-4, 10-4 SEC)

• No. 10 OU 

• No. 16 Kentucky (20-8, 7-7 SEC)

• No. 19 Mississippi (21-8, 8-6 SEC)

• No. 23 Georgia

• No. 24 Alabama

This week’s ranking marks the 14th time this season OU has ranked in the top 10, with its last appearance coming in week 15 when the Sooners were No. 10. In ESPN’s Feb. 20 bracketology, OU slid to a No. 5 seed, losing its No. 4 seed and potential first-round home game in the NCAA Tournament to Mississippi. Since then, Mississippi tumbled with a 85-48 loss to South Carolina, leaving the door open for the Sooners to rise in the next prediction released Tuesday.

Next, OU hosts Arkansas (11-18, 0-14 SEC) at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lloyd Noble Center on the SEC Network.
