Oklahoma Sooners-Michigan Wolverines women's gymnastics

The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners will face off against the No. 7 Missouri Tigers, No. 12 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 3 Florida Gators on Thursday in the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Semifinals.

The winners of that meet will face the winner between No. 1 ranked LSU, No. 8 Michigan State, No. 4 Utah and No. 5 UCLA, all formidable opponents.

In the Sooners' case, they have wins over five of the seven schools in the semifinals, besides the only two losses of the season coming at the hands of LSU.

It is highly anticipated that Oklahoma and LSU could meet for the fourth time this season as LSU has taken the last two meetings in the SEC Championship and Feb. 14 meet.

Oklahoma has only beaten LSU once on Jan 11, but looks to even the series if both teams come out of their side of the bracket and meet in the National Championship.

While the Feb. 14 meeting between LSU and OU was close, the difference between the win and loss came down to the balance beam event where the Sooners scored a season-low 49.250 that gave the Tigers the edge.

Vault was what the Sooners could have done better in the SEC Championship as they scored a meet low 49.425 on the event.

If OU can fix its hiccups and perfect these events, another ring could be on the horizon for Oklahoma.

Semifinals I consisting of Oklahoma, Missouri, Florida and Alabama will be live on ESPN 2 at 3:30 p.m.

Semifinals II consisting of LSU, Michigan State, Utah and UCLA will be live on ESPN 2 at 8 p.m.
