Oklahoma Sooners-Women's gymnastics Collegiate quad-meet

No. 1 Oklahoma (6-0) faced off against three top 10 teams in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad in Oklahoma City. The Sooners defeated No. 2 LSU (3-1), No. 4 Utah (1-3) and No. 6 California (3-2) for a 197.950-197.650 victory.

The Sooners began the meet on beam, taking an early lead with a score of 49.525. Fifth-year senior Audrey Davis opened for a 9.875. Following Davis’ performance, the freshmen duo, Addison Fatta and Lily Pederson earned a 9.875 and 9.900, respectively. Senior Jordan Bowers scored 9.900, and junior Faith Torrez finished with a near-perfect 9.975.

Just like beam, Davis led for a 9.875 on floor. Bowers and Torrez each ended the rotation with a 9.95 — a season high for Bowers. Oklahoma held its lead through the halfway point, finishing floor with a 49.452 and a combined total of 99.050.

The Sooners remained in first place at the end of rotation three. Despite one fall and a 9.750 being counted to the overall score on the vault, the team rallied. Bowers scored her second 9.900 of the afternoon, and the team notched an event score of 49.200, reaching 148.250 in total.

Going into bars, Oklahoma was only .125 points ahead of second place LSU. It needed a stellar rotation to ensure the victory. In the first spot, senior Danielle Sievers delivered, opening with a 9.900. Fatta scored 9.875, and Pederson and Torrez earned back-to-back 9.50s. Davis, the 2024 NCAA Bars Champion, clenched the meet with her near-perfect 9.975, and Bowers finished the day off with a 9.925.

Bowers scored a total of 39.675, taking the victory in the all-around.

“I’m feeling very good, very confident,” Bowers said about her feelings towards this new season. “Going into my senior year, it’s super bittersweet but just trying to enjoy every moment and being so grateful for every opportunity.”

Next, Oklahoma will be in Norman for its home opener against No. 4 Missouri (3-0) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday at Lloyd Noble Center.
