OU football announced that quarterback John Mateer and linebacker Kip Lewis will return for the 2026 season.

Mateer recorded 2,885 passing yards and 14 touchdowns in the air in 2025 after transferring from Washington State University. He also finished with 431 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

Lewis recorded 76 tackles and four pass deflections in 2025. He also put up four sacks.

Mateer, Lewis and the Sooners are coming off a College Football Playoff appearance.
