Norman North continues its win streak as it improves to 4-1, beating the Westmoore Jaguars (0-5) with the final score of 43-20.
With a final score of 43-20, it is hard to believe that after the first quarter, the score was only 7-6. According to head coach Justin Jones of Norman North, he credits a lot of this to Westmoore.
”I think we only had 19 snaps in the first half,” said Coach Jones. “They were draining the clock, making big plays and keeping our offense off the field.”
“As much as they extended drives, I’m proud of our defense for being out there for two or three series and coming out with the ball.”
With the opportunities that the Timberwolves had, they were able to score on their first drive and then throw a red zone interception.
All while the teams struggled for the lead in the game, the tension led to multiple flags and verbal exchanges between both teams.
According to Senior wide receiver Mason James, when it came to the tension of the game, he understands it and says that he and other seniors preach keeping a level head.
“We have to keep our heads on straight,” said James. “I know I can be un-level-headed sometimes, but that’s what my teammates are for to lift me up in moments like that and vice versa.”
This week, Norman North heads to Tulsa to face the 1-4 Union Redhawks.
