OU redshirt senior quarterback John Mateer and redshirt senior wide receiver Isaiah Sategna connected for a 50-yard reception in the first half of the 2026 spring game.

Sategna finished the play in the end zone for what would have been a 76-yard receiving touchdown before it was called back for stepping out of bounds. It marked Sategna's only reception of the half, while it contributed to Mateer surpassing 170 passing yards through the first.

"I thought he scored ... but it's good he's running wide open," Mateer said. "That's been there before. It's a good feeling, and being able to put the ball on him like that against the wind felt good."

Offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle praised Sategna's growth as a leader over the spring in addition to his receiving abilities.

"The coolest thing about Isaiah is watching him grow into a leadership role, ..." Arbuckle said. "Watching him bring along young guys and be an example at practice, ... that's been awesome."

Mateer and Sategna are significant returners for the Sooners in 2026 after Mateer recorded 2,885 passing yards last season, and Sategna put up 965 receiving yards.
