OU adds 5th-year defensive tackle transfer Danny Saili

Oklahoma-Auburn football game

Head coach Brent Venables and sophomore defensive lineman David Stone during the game against Auburn on Sept. 20.

Fifth-year defensive tackle Danny Saili is expected to join OU, according to On3's Pete Nakos and Sooner Scoop's George Stoia.

Saili was granted a fifth year of eligibility following the recent class of 2022 ruling in Colorado, though he has been in the portal since January. Saili adds depth to a strong OU defensive line that includes preseason all-SEC second-team selection Taylor Wein, according to the media poll.

Saili, a native of Topeka, Kansas, has recorded 14 tackles in his previous two seasons at Arkansas. He played two years at Hutchinson Community College before moving to Fayetteville.

Head coach Brent Venables said in his fall media day press conference that "anything's possible" as to evaluating players who had recently gained fifth-year eligibility.
