The Sooners are grouped in the Atlanta Regional that features No. 2 overall seed Georgia Tech (45-9), University of Illinois Chicago (27-27-1) and The Citadel. The first round is a four‑team double‑elimination bracket, where a team isn’t knocked out until it loses twice. The last team standing advances to the super regional round.
Friday’s contest marks just the second time OU and The Citadel have faced each other, with their last meeting on Feb. 21, 2014, where the Sooners defeated the Bulldogs 9-7 in a neutral site game.
Despite dropping out of the Southeastern Conference tournament with a round one 6-2 loss to Louisiana State (30-28), OU will make its 42nd appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the eighth most by any team in the country.
The Sooners will take on the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. Friday in Atlanta on ESPN+.
