OU Career Center extends support to students beyond graduation, offering services for up to three years — and indefinitely for all alumni. While personalized advising is available for three years, other resources are accessible to all alumni, emphasizing the OU Career Center's dedication to lifelong assistance.
"As the class of 2024 prepares for graduation, they will gain access to various resources provided by the Career Center," said Robin Huston, director of the OU Career Center. "These include job boards, listings for networking events and career fairs, resume critiques, and personalized career advising."
All undergraduates from the Norman campus with a graduation application on file are automatically enrolled in the "Graduate OU Canvas Course," introduced in spring 2023. One essential task in this course for graduation clearance is the Post-Graduation Plans Survey. This brief survey requires students to outline their post-graduation plans and is crucial for enhancing the OU Career Center's services.
"The Career Center is committed to helping students utilize their degrees effectively," said David Surratt, vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students. "The data collected from the survey significantly improves our recruitment efforts and our ability to support new alumni in their job searches."
"After graduation, Career Center advisers will actively engage with students who are uncertain about their future, particularly those who indicate they are 'still looking' in the survey. It's vital that every graduating student completes the survey to ensure they receive the support they need," said Huston.
Last year, nearly 2,800 alumni benefited from the Career Center's post-graduate services.
