Ward 4 residents voted to keep incumbent Helen Grant as their city council representative.
Of the over 1,000 cast, 64.14% voted for Grant. Judy Moss received 35.86% of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Oklahoma State Election Board.
In a statement to OU Daily, Grant thanked their supporters and said they look forward to passing common-sense policies.
“I would like to thank Ward 4 voters for entrusting me with another term on Norman City Council. I look forward to advocating and passing common sense policies backed by evidence and best practices to address: homelessness, affordable housing, and how we do truly equitable, smart infrastructure and development City-wide,” Grant wrote. “I also want to thank my family, friends, supporters, and everyone who helped me win this election with their time, effort, monetary contributions, and show of support.”
Moss is thankful for the people she’s met during her campaign and the relationships she deepened. She said she is excited to do what she can for Norman.
“Of course we are disappointed that we did not succeed, but I'm very proud of our campaign efforts. So many people showed a lot of support and worked as hard as I did. We are even more excited than ever to do what we can to help Norman to be all it can be. If done on the council and in other ways, (I’ve) met so many wonderful people in the process and really deepened some of my relationships,” Moss said.
Grant will continue their work on the council and begin their new term on July 2.
