The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a suspicious death that occurred near Reed Avenue and Main Street Saturday afternoon, according to a county spokesperson.
Cleveland County deputies responded to the scene before OSBI took over the case, according to Jeremy Walker, county director of communications.
In a Wednesday Facebook post, OSBI identified the individual as 40-year-old James Brannon and wrote there is no suspect at large or threat to the community.
During Norman City Council's Tuesday study session, City Manager Darrel Pyle said he does not believe the death was a homicide.
"There were social media stories about a stabbing," Pyle said. "We have no indication that a stabbing took place or a homicide took place."
Hunter McKee, public information manager for OSBI, told OU Daily Saturday Brannon was transported to the state medical examiner’s office.
OSBI wrote the investigation is ongoing and the medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of Brannon's death.
