Red Rock Behavioral Health was named the certified community behavioral health clinic for Cleveland and McClain Counties.
Certified community behavioral health clinics are a new provider type in Medicaid offered across Oklahoma under the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, according to the department’s press release.
These are designed to provide a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder services to vulnerable individuals.
The clinics represent an opportunity for states to improve the behavioral health of their residents by providing community-based mental and substance use disorder services, as well as promoting improved access to high-quality care, the press release reads.
This comes after the department announced the construction of a behavioral health hospital on the Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City campus on Sept. 11, replacing Norman’s Griffin Memorial Hospital as the state’s primary mental health hospital.
Red Rock’s facility is on the Griffin Memorial Hospital campus but is set to remain in Norman after the hospital moves to Oklahoma City, according to Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Senior Director of Public Relations Bonnie Campo.
Red Rock and the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse will commemorate the newly certified community behavioral health clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the NOUN Hotel in Norman.
