Ray’s Smokehouse BBQ announced Tuesday that it will relocate to Ed Noble Parkway in January, closing its Lindsey Street location.
The restaurant announced in a Facebook post that it will move to 950 Ed Noble Dr., the location where Jason’s Deli was previously at, citing it will feature more seating, new menu items and a private room available for events and gatherings.
The restaurant is owned by former Sooners safety Darrol Ray, who, at one point, had the longest playoff interception return for a touchdown in NFL history.
“Ray’s BBQ started back in 2008 with truly humble beginnings,” the post reads. “Our current Lindsey Street location was an old Pizza Hut that we completely transformed and it has now become a place filled with memories, photos, and visits from football players, coaches, and guests from all over.”
According to the post, the restaurant will be closed on Christmas Day and Dec. 31-Jan. 6. The post states that an official opening date will be announced at a later date.
The closure of Ray’s Smokehouse BBQ’s location is one of many businesses over the past few years, which have shuttered its doors on Lindsey Street. Several businesses have faced closures or struggles including Penny Hill Deli and 405 Burger Bar.
