OU will have a delayed start and Norman Public Schools will cancel classes Wednesday due to anticipated icy road conditions.
OU’s Norman campus will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to an announcement late Tuesday afternoon.
Norman Public Schools will close Wednesday due to anticipated poor road conditions in neighborhoods, the district announced Tuesday. All extracurricular activities, including athletics, are also canceled.
According to the announcement, NPS has used its two built-in snow days and converted its professional development day on April 17 into an instructional day. NPS will evaluate the best way to make up for the instructional time missed during the fourth snow day.
“Further details, including any adjustments to the school day or academic calendar, will be shared as soon as possible,” the announcement reads.
NPS shared a link to a community resource guide for families who may need assistance during the closure.

Will Rogers International Airport
Will Rogers International Airport has cancelled all incoming and outgoing flights Saturday, according to reporting from The Oklahoman. Flights are expected to resume sometime Sunday.
Weather Preparedness
In a mass email to OU students, faculty and staff, the university encouraged Norman residents and OU students to regularly check the National Weather Service’s website for information regarding Oklahoma City, Norman and Tulsa. The university also encouraged individuals to check the Oklahoma Road Conditions Map.
OU wrote people should prepare by stocking up on food and other necessities, and letting faucets drip to avoid freezing pipes. The university encouraged individuals to walk carefully, wear multiple layers and practice the “buddy system” when leaving the house.
City Waste Collection
In a press release, the city of Norman announced waste collection may be delayed as drivers cover residential routes depending on road conditions. The city wrote residents should leave trash and recycling bins at the curb until serviced.
Rural routes west of Northwest 48th Street and east of Southeast 48th street will not be picked up Monday, the city wrote.
Norman’s Transfer Station will close at noon Monday and remain closed through Tuesday.

CART schedule changes
Campus Area Rapid Transit closed early on Friday. All Lloyd Noble Center shuttles will begin the last full run at 1:20 p.m. from campus depot.
The apartment loop, the research route and the campus route will begin the last full run at 12:45 p.m. from campus depot.
Goddard Health Center
Goddard Health Center closed at noon Friday, according to a mass email sent to employees and students Thursday that states it will close if campus closes.
Norman Farm Market
Norman Farm Market announced in an Instagram post Wednesday that the weekly event would be canceled this week. The market is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday at The Well.
“The U.S. National Weather Service reports confidence is high for at least 6 inches of snow across most of Oklahoma,” Norman Farm Market wrote. “Please stay safe and warm, and we look forward to seeing you back at the market on Saturday, Jan. 31.”
Uncanny Art House
Uncanny Art House, an art gallery in downtown Norman, announced Friday programming changes in a Facebook post Wednesday.
Comedy in the Black Lodge was canceled and is pending rescheduling. The show was intended to take place at 8 p.m. Saturday.
4th Friday Films, originally scheduled at 6 p.m., has been moved to a virtual livestream with a discussion to follow.
“We appreciate your flexibility and look forward to spending time together virtually this weekend,” Uncanny Art House wrote.
Uncanny Art Hang, scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, was also moved to a virtual session on Discord.
Crimson Closet
OU Student Life announced in an Instagram post Thursday that local thrift and vintage vendor event Crimson Closet would be postponed. The event was scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at OU’s armory.
