OU announced it will rename the OU Health Sciences Center to the OU Health Campus in a mass email Tuesday.
OU President Joseph Harroz Jr. wrote in the email that the university has worked to integrate the College of Medicine’s clinical practices with the medical services in OU Health’s system of hospitals, clinics and centers for the past five years.
The change aligns with the third pillar of OU’s “Lead On, University” strategic plan, which aims to unify all OU campuses under shared goals.
“This unique calling – to be Oklahoma’s leading academic health system, where science fuels discovery, innovation leads to cures, and world-class care and education shape the future – sets us apart as a force for health unlike any other in our state,” Harroz wrote.
The new branding is expected to accelerate OU Health’s recruitment strategy and expand resources needed to drive research, Harroz wrote in the email.
Harroz wrote the branding change will connect the campus more explicitly to OU, including the creation of a new logo to clear reported confusion.
“It is responsive both to feedback from health care consumers – who indicated our previous branding strategy caused confusion – and to clinical faculty and researchers whose work will benefit from greater alignment under a unified, recognizable identity,” Harroz wrote.
