On Friday afternoon, university officials confirmed that an active shooter alert at OU College of Dentistry was false.
An alert was issued to students, faculty and staff at the OU Health Sciences Center Friday afternoon. Shortly after, the alert was found to be a false alarm.
“A large presence has been reported at the College of Dentistry,” the alert read. “… Alarm was false, avoid the area.”
Shortly after 3 p.m., OU issued an alert confirming the campus was all clear: "The OUHSC campus has issued an all clear. False alarm. It is safe to come out of your shelter. please stay aware and safe. Continue to avoid Stonewall Ave."
The Oklahoma City Police Department was first alerted to assist the situation at the college at 2:17 p.m., according to a spokesperson.
OU College of Dentistry is located at the OU Health Sciences Center campus in Oklahoma City.
