Food and Shelter’s executive director announced her departure from the nonprofit in a Facebook post Sunday.
April Doshier wrote in the Facebook post she will leave for new opportunities in a different state.
“There is no easy way to say it,” Doshier wrote. “I have decided to leave Food and Shelter in search of new opportunities. Those new opportunities, unfortunately, lie in another state.”
Doshier has served in the position since January 2010, according to the Facebook post. As executive director, Doshier ran daily operations within the nonprofit and led projects such as the Red Gala event.
Food and Shelter’s board of directors is responsible for selecting a new executive director for the organization, according to the Facebook post. Doshier wrote her last day with Food and Shelter will be Oct. 24.
“It is already too difficult to process, so I'll say I love you and thank you,” Doshier wrote. “Thank you for always supporting me and my wild visions. Thank you for always standing up for people in need. Thank you for being here for the most vulnerable in our community. Thank you for the time, resources, and voices you have given to us each step of the way. You are the backbone of Food and Shelter - not me. The staff, the board, the volunteers, the donors, and, of course, our very special residents and guests are what define this wonderful place.
“I believe in Food and Shelter today and always.”
