Das Boot Camp Restaurant & Bar announced Saturday that it will close after 13 years on Norman’s Main Street.
The restaurant wrote in a Facebook post the decision was due to unspecified health news.
“This was not an easy choice, but it is the right one for this season of our lives,” the post reads. “Please know that this community has been one of the greatest honors of our journey.”
Das Boot Camp was established in 2012 on the corner of Main Street and Crawford Avenue by owner Andy Gmeiner. The restaurant serves German dishes as well as beer handcrafted by its flagship restaurant, Royal Bavaria Brewery in Moore, according to its website.
Royal Bavaria Brewery will remain open, according to Laura Gmeiner, wife of owner Andy. The Gmeiner family has owned and operated Royal Bavaria since 2008.
The news follows other Main Street closures, including local taproom 405 Brewing Co. and flower and vintage clothing shop, Human Interaction.
Business owners in downtown Norman have faced declining sales and funds this year.
According to the post, Das Boot Camp’s final day open will be Dec. 31.
