UPDATE, 1:18 p.m. — Cayann Patterson Deffner is the mother of OU student Ashley Roth, according to an obituary for Deffner's father and a student who is a friend of Roth's.
NORMAN — NewsOK is reporting that authorities said an estranged husband shot and killed his wife and her divorce attorney Tuesday night before turning the gun on himself.
Police found attorney Bryan Young, 47, suffering from several gunshot wounds at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in his home in the 700 block of Trisha Lane in Norman. Young, a former Norman North High School principal and soccer coach, was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Norman police said Young's wife and child were in the home at the time of the killing. Neither was injured.
Later, Norman firefighters found Cayann Patterson Deffner, 49, dead inside a home that had been set on fire in the 1000 block of W Lindsey Street. Deffner had been shot several times, police said.
