Kyle Harper has been announced as a possible candidate for Senior Vice President and provost position at OU. Harper will give give a forum 9 a.m. Thursday.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Kyle Harper has been named the Senior Vice President and Provost for OU's Norman campus.

OU President David Boren announced the selection at the OU Board of Regents meeting Tuesday.

“Dr. Kyle Harper is already recognized nationally as an outstanding scholar and will provide excellent leadership as a provost,” Boren said in a press release statement.

“It is an honor to accept my appointment to the position of Senior Vice President and Provost at the University of Oklahoma,” Harper said in a statement in the same release.

Harper will officially take over for former provost Nancy Mergler, who resigned last June to return to teaching. She served as provost for almost 20 years, according to the release. Harper has served as interim provost since her resignation.
