'I'm going to f*cking ask for it now:' Professor asks for OU President Gallogly's resignation amid racist video aftermath

Resign Now

OU professor Suzette Grillot gives a sign that reads "Resign Now" to OU President James Gallogly at the Rally to Stop Racism Jan. 22. Grillot was recently fired from her position as Dean of the College of International Studies.

Former dean of the College of International Studies Suzette Grillot called for OU President James Gallogy’s resignation at the Rally to Stop Racism today.

Grillot was officially removed from her position as dean the university Jan. 18, and tweeted that she was removed from her position in “retaliation for her being outspoken.”

“Enough is enough,” Grillot said at the rally. “No more racism. No more, no more, no more. And I’m not gonna be as kind as the people that came before me and say in a year from now we’re going to ask for your resignation. I’m going to fucking ask for it now.” She then held up a sign that said "Resign now" in front of Gallogly's face and dropped it in his lap.

Grillot also said racism has become systemic at OU, and is not made a priority until incidents like these happen.

“Racism is a part of the university culture, and it goes unchallenged until a crisis arises and public relations become a priority,” Grillot said. “We all know what’s going on here. We’re not blind … We’re not going to let institutionalized racism, sexism, homophobia or any other exclusionary practice go unchallenged any longer.”
