Exploring energy careers through Shell speaker series

The Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy is hosting a speaker series for the duration of the semester to teach students about career opportunities in their field.

The speaker series is sponsored by Shell, who will bring in a speaker each week to talk at the Shell Colloquium, associate professor Andrew Madden said.

The speakers are a mixture of working professionals and alumni, Madden said.

Graduate and undergraduate students are expected to attend the different colloquiums in order to learn about different lines of work, he said.

“Students are exposed to the latest research in a wide variety of fields,” Madden said. “They learn about the process of science and how to communicate scientific ideas, data and results.”

The next colloquium will take place on Oct. 17 and will feature Silke Severmann from Rutgers University.
