OU released participation and security rules for Saturday morning’s ESPN College GameDay.
In an email sent to OU students, the university announced the GameDay pit will open at 5:30 a.m. and entry is “first-come, first-served.”
Those hoping to be in the pit are instructed to wear school colors. Pit participants will be given numbered wristbands as they enter.
Bags, food, drinks, pens, pencils, markers, dry-erase boards, signs on sticks and oversized signs are prohibited from the pit.
Signs must not promote any vulgar, political, religious, or commercial messaging. All signs will be inspected before entry, according to ESPN’s GameDay guidelines.
ESPN security will be present and OUPD will patrol the night before the event. Those attending GameDay are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and call 911 in case of an emergency.
The email also reminds fans that alcohol, drugs and camping tents are prohibited on campus. OU’s tailgating policy website includes details about tailgate rules, road closures and events.
ESPN College GameDay is a college sports pregame television program where hosts make predictions and analyze the coming football game. GameDay is held in a different college town each week.
The program features live music, celebrity guests and fan contests, according to ESPN.
On Thursday, ESPN announced country music singer-songwriter Blake Shelton as this Saturday’s guest picker on social platform X.
Shelton will join anchor Rece Davis and sports commentators Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Steve Coughlin, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and former Alabama football coach Nick Saban.
GameDay will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. on OU’s South Oval. GameDay countdown will begin at 7:20 a.m. Saturday morning.
OU will face off against the University of Tennessee on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in its first Southeastern Conference game.
