A series of pre-development meetings on Sept. 28 in city hall will feature discussions regarding proposals for the development of a part-canine boarding facility, part-tavern.
Norman resident Greg Emmert submitted a proposal to convert his .34 acre property on 1134 McGee Drive to a canine boarding facility and a dog-friendly bar.
Representatives of Architecture Interior Design + Planning LLC, Joshua Schoenborn and Brandon Conklin, outlined the intended use of the potentially reconstructed facility in a formal document.
The single building will be 40 feet by 40 feet with two stories, the first containing retail space, dog grooming, restrooms and a tavern adjacent to the trail areas. The second floor will contain an indoor kennel space.
During the meeting, there will also be a review of a proposal submitted by Wiggin Properties LLC. The proposal is to develop 151 acres of land generally located East of Highway 77, South of Cedar Lane and North of Post Oak Road. The majority of the site is located on 24th Ave SE.
The attorney for the applicant, Rieger Law Group, outlined in the request that the intent for development will be to create a mixed-use resort destination for RV campsites, glamping tents and cabins. A swimming pool, restaurant, bar and clubhouse will also be included.
Pre-planning discussions regarding both proposals will be held on Sept. 28. The meeting about the resort destination will be at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting about the tavern will be at 6 p.m. Both will appear at the planning commission meeting on Oct. 12.
