Alan Hruby gave a fake name when he was pulled over the day of the homicide

Alan Hruby

Murder defendant Alan Hruby used false information when he was pulled over by Duncan police early Oct. 9 before returning to his Duncan home later that night to kill his parents and younger sister.

Hruby received three different citations the morning of Oct. 9, Lawrence M. Wheeler, Hruby’s attorney for his 2013 credit card charges, said in a press release.

Hruby gave the name and birthdate of Dakota Moore to officers when he was pulled over. When the officers checked the information, it came back returning a valid “Dakota Moore” driver’s license, according to the press release.

Moore is a real person with whom Hruby is familiar and for whom Hruby has allegedly expressed a strong dislike, according to an email from Wheeler.

Hruby has used Moore’s name at different times when Hruby’s been pulled over, Wheeler said in the email.

Hruby was only given a citation for not possessing a drivers license, according to the press release.

The citations include the following:

  • Speeding 11 to 14 miles per hour over the limit
  • No previous insurance or carrying expired insurance
  • Not possessing a drivers license.
