Class of 2027

Incoming freshmen during the annual Class Kickoff on Aug. 11.

Freshman Week kicks off with events designed to help students transition to college life.

Organizations across campus are hosting events ranging from physical fitness classes to crafts and Coke floats. Events run throughout the week around campus.

The OU Gaming Club plans will host three events. While the club regularly hosts events, senior program coordinator Jacob Ross said they wanted to host during Freshman Week because of the connections built during Camp Crimson.

“Not everyone plays the same games, but that opens the door for a good number of a different collection of students to get involved,” Ross said. “And all of those (this week’s) games are free to play.”

Ross said students hesitant to join in-person events shouldn’t worry.

“I think our community is very easy to join,” Ross said. “We have a Discord server with 4,400 people in there now, and so many people just sit there and lurk.”

The week concludes with the first game in a softball series at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Love’s Field

Students who attend Freshman Week activities can earn points by attending events and completing challenges on Scavify. The top 15 students with the most points will win two tickets to Boomer Bash on Nov. 22.
