No. 1 Oklahoma (20-0) defeated No. 7 Michigan (9-5) at the Lloyd Noble Center on Friday to remain unbeaten.

Starting on vault, the Sooners took the lead in what looked to be a close match, scoring 49.525 to Michigan’s 49.500. Freshman Keira Wells earned a 9.900 and sophomore Faith Torrez tallied a 9.925. Senior Katherine LeVasseur finished first in the event with a near-perfect 9.975.

After a close start, Oklahoma was ready to pull away. On bars, Torrez earned a 9.900 and junior Jordan Bowers scored a 9.925. Leading the event off, junior Danielle Sievers tied her season-high with a 9.950.

Finally, LeVasseur scored another near-perfect 9.975, matching her career-high. Junior Audrey Davis matched her career-best with the same score. The Sooners put up a 49.725 on bars and led 99.250-98.575 halfway through the meet.

Davis started balance beam off strong with a career-high 9.975, and Bowers earned a 9.950. Following Davis, Torrez’s routine earned her a 9.975 for her own career-high.

Anchoring the team, fifth year Ragan Smith ended as strong as she could for a perfect 10. The moment she landed, the crowd roared, quieted as they awaited the result, and cheered the loudest they had the whole night when her 10 was announced.

“It felt great,” Smith said. “I know when I do my best routine and I hit the landing. I see the crowd, and that feeling never goes away.”

This marks the third meet in a row Smith has scored a 10 in the event. She’s now amassed eight total perfect 10s, breaking the program record for most 10s scored on beam that was once held by legendary OU athlete Maggie Nichols.

“The thing to me is that every time she does a routine it almost looks identical, so that score is available to her almost any time she hits,” head coach K.J. Kindler said. “It’s pretty incredible.”

For the second week in a row, the Sooners tied their program’s record on beam with their collective 49.800 and began to pull away from Michigan with a 149.050-148.000 lead.

To end the night, Oklahoma scored a 49.600 on floor. Davis earned her second near-perfect score of the night with a 9.975. LeVasseur tallied a 9.925 to score a career-high 39.775 in the all-around. Faith registered a 9.900, and Bowers anchored for a 9.950. The Sooners earned a huge final score of 198.650, firmly securing the win.

Next, Oklahoma competes in a quad meet hosted by Texas Woman’s against TWU, Penn and Clemson at 2 p.m. Sunday in Denton, Texas.
