Oklahoma played a 10-innings, winning 10-0 in the first six-inning game and 5-0 in the four-inning game, against Seminole State College on Wednesday, setting a new Fall Ball attendance record of 1,508 at Love’s Field in Norman.
Oklahoma’s offense took center stage early.
Redshirt freshman infielder Nelly McEnroe-Marinas broke through in the second inning with a solo home run, energizing the crowd and giving the Sooners the lead. Just an inning later, sophomore Outfielder Kasidi Pickering followed suit, launching a home run of her own in the third inning to widen the margin.
These back-to-back displays of power put OU in control.
The Sooners' pitchers also played a crucial role. Freshman left-handed pitcher Audrey Lowry started off with a strong performance, keeping Seminole State’s hitters off balance with precise pitching. Junior right-handed pitcher Paytn Monticelli came in relief, continuing OU’s dominance on the mound. Together Lowry and Monticelli delivered a string of scoreless innings.
Oklahoma’s offense wasn’t done, as redshirt junior catcher Isabela Emerling smacked a ball into the stands in the fifth inning to keep the pressure on Seminole State.
The Sooners carried their momentum into the last few innings, with Emerling driving in three runs in the seventh inning.
Junior left-handed pitcher Kierston Deal and senior right-handed pitcher Sam Landry took the mound and kept Seminole State scoreless, allowing the Sooners to hold onto their lead without complications
In the ninth inning, junior infielder Ailana Agbayani delivered a key hit, bringing home a runner from third to extend the lead. Pickering, who had already homered in the first game, added a two-run blast in the same inning, further solidifying the Sooners’ advantage. With a combination of offensive firepower and strong pitching, Oklahoma wrapped up the game with another dominant win.
The Sooners will continue their Fall Ball campaign next week. Their next matchup is a doubleheader at Love’s Field, where they will take on ULM.
