OU Regents approve contract for new offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley

New Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley will be in Norman for at least two years, according to his new contract.

The deal, effective Jan. 31, pays $500,000 annually. Former offensive coordinator Josh Heupel made $605,000 per year at the same position.

The OU Board of Regents approved the contract Wednesday at its meeting in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Riley's contract provides a base salary of $265,000 in addition to another $235,000 from additional and outside income.

Should the Sooners win the College Football Playoff during Riley’s term, he will receive a bonus of 10 percent of his total annual salary. That would be $50,000 during the 2015-2016 season.

At East Carolina Riley made $275,000, just over half of his new deal. The contract goes through Jan. 31, 2017.

Riley’s new salary would have ranked No. 11 among Big 12 coaches in 2014. The highest paid assistant coach on the Sooners’ sideline is defensive coordinator Mike Stoops at $850,000 annually.
