Junior defensive back Peyton Bowen during the game against Texas on Oct. 11.

OU (9-2, 5-2 SEC) junior safety Peyton Bowen received the Jim Thorpe Award national defensive back of the week following a 17-6 win against Missouri.

Peyton Bowen blocked a field goal in the second quarter that set up OU's first touchdown against Missouri. He also recorded four tackles and a pass deflection in the contest.

This marks the second week in a row that an OU player has received this award. Last week's recipient was sophomore cornerback Eli Bowen, Peyton Bowen’s brother.

OU will finish its regular season against Louisiana State University (7-4, 3-4) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, live on ABC.
