No. 8 OU (10-2, 6-2 SEC) capped off its regular season with a 17-13 win over LSU (7-5, 3-5 SEC), sealed by a game-winning touchdown in the final minutes by redshirt junior wide receiver Isaiah Satenga III.

The Sooners were trailing by three with 5:04 left in the fourth quarter when the Sooners’ leading receiver Sategna got behind the defense, scoring a 58-yard touchdown to put OU ahead by four in the final minutes. He finished the day with nine catches for 121 yards as well as the game-winning touchdown.

Postgame, OU head coach Brent Venables praised Sategna’s impressive performance.

“(Sategna) was pretty special,” said Venables. “He's somebody on the stat sheet that looks pretty dang good.”

Sategna has consistently filled the stat sheet all season, proving to be redshirt junior quarterback John Mateer’s number one target. This season, he leads the Sooners in all three major receiving categories with 56 catches for 827 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games.

The redshirt junior spent his first three seasons at Arkansas, where he struggled to find a consistent role in the offense, finishing with a career-high 491 yards in 2024 before transferring to OU in search of a larger opportunity. The move came after the Sooners capped off a disappointing 6-7 campaign. With uncertainty surrounding the ‘blue-blood’ status of OU football, Sategna admitted he relished the opportunity to come to a school where expectations needed to be raised.

“My whole college career I’ve been doubted, so I wanted to go somewhere that’s been doubted…(OU) is the place I wanted to be at,” said Sategna postgame.

With the win, the Sooners now have a 99.9% chance to make the College Football Playoffs, according to ESPN’s predictor, and will wait until Tuesday to see their positioning ahead of the final rankings reveal on Dec. 7.
