OU running back coach DeMarco Murray is set to join Kansas City in the NFL, according to Jordan Schultz.

Murray has led the Sooners’ running backs room since 2020. Prior to returning to Norman, he spent one year at Arizona as the Wildcats’ running backs coach.

A former Sooner standout, Murray played as a running back for OU from 2006 to 2010. In 50 career games, he rushed for 3,685 yards and 50 touchdowns. He was later selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and went on to earn NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2014.

Murray is the third assistant coach to leave OU since the 2025 season, following January’s dismissal of tight end coach Joe Jon Finley and cornerback coach Jay Valai’s move to the Buffalo Bills in early February.

OU has not yet announced a replacement.
