OU cornerback coach and assistant head coach for defense Jay Valai is set to join the NFL's Buffalo Bills as a defensive back coach, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.

Valai has coached corner backs at OU since 2022 and added the title of assistant head coach for defense in 2024. He helped the Sooners to finishing with the No. 6 defense in the nation in 2025.

Before leading at the college level, he was in a defensive quality control role in the NFL and served as the assistant defensive backs coach for Kansas City in 2018. 

His coaching success comes after he was an all-Big Ten defensive back at Wisconsin and played in the 2010 Rose Bowl.
