Jackson Arnold will be the Sooners' starting quarterback for their game against Mississippi, Brent Venables announced on his weekly coaches show.

Arnold, a sophomore, was Oklahoma's starter for its first four games before being benched in the Sooners' 25-15 loss to Tennessee, a game where he committed three turnovers in the first half.

He was then benched for freshman Michael Hawkins Jr., who led OU to its lone SEC win against Auburn. Hawkins was the starter for the Sooners' loss to Texas and was benched for Arnold after committing three turnovers in the first six minutes against South Carolina.

Arnold has completed 57.2% of his passes for 763 yards, eight touchdowns and has thrown three interceptions on the season. Hawkins has completed 62.5% of his passes for 476 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

The Sooners face Mississippi at 11 a.m. Saturday in Oxford on ESPN.
