The OU Board of Regents approved several adjustments to athletics personnel contracts and facility improvements for L. Dale Mitchell Park at its Tuesday meeting.
Patty Gasso, OU softball head coach, received a contract extension through June 30, 2029.
Skip Johnson, OU baseball head coach, received a contract extension through June 30, 2030.Â
OU softball assistant coaches JT Gasso and Jennifer Rocha will maintain base salaries of $250,000 annually. Their additional income from unrestricted private funds will increase from $50,000 to $60,000 annually, covering personal services, fundraising, and other athletics-related activities.
All contract changes and stadium improvements are effective retroactively to July 1, 2025, or as noted.
The board approved the first phase of renovations at L. Dale Mitchell Park, home of OU baseball.Â
The $3.3 million project will improve the outfield wall, batter’s eye, bullpens, facility fencing, and spectator areas beyond the outfield. OU administration is authorized to hire and make payments not exceeding $2.5 million, with funding provided by athletics budgets and private donations.Â
OU athletic director Joe Castiglione said the goal is to finish the improvements before the season begins.Â
Castiglione said the improvements being made were part of the L. Dale Mitchell Baseball Park Expansion and Improvements presentation, but were not readily available when the original presentation was made in 2023. The board is expected to consider future phases of work consistent with the facility master plan later this fall, according to the agenda.
