The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners emerged victorious from the second round of the Seattle Regional this Friday, the first meet in their road to nationals. Facing off against No. 15 Auburn, Nebraska and Illinois, Oklahoma took first with a final score of 198.025-196.950.

Oklahoma opened up with a dominant performance on floor. Each girl scored a 9.90 or higher. Fifth-year senior Audrey Davis led with a 9.90. Freshman Elle Mueller, senior Jordan Bowers and freshman Addison Fatta all earned the same. Senior Danielle Sievers notched her season-high score of 9.95, and junior Faith Torrez finished the rotation with a 9.975. With a team total of 49.625, OU slid into first place early with no desire of letting go.

Second rotation of the vault served as Oklahoma’s weak point. The highest scorer was Torrez with her 9.875. With a majority of 9.800s, the team only earned an event score of 49.175. Despite this, the Sooners’ 98.800 score was enough to keep them stretched far in the lead over second place Auburn’s 98.300.

Despite an average start on bars, the last three routines were each high-scoring performances that kept OU in first. Torrez stuck her landing for a 9.95, followed by Davis with the same score. Bowers closed out with the third straight 9.95. With an event score of 49.525, the Sooners raised their total to remain ahead of Auburn 147.625-143.325.

To close the meet out, Oklahoma showed up on beam with its all. It started with three 9.95s in a row – one from Davis’ starting routine, Fatta’s career high and the last from freshman Lily Pederson. Bowers and sophomore Keira Wells followed with two 9.85s, and to finish the night, Torrez earned her first-ever perfect 10 on beam. OU’s 49.700 was its highest event score of the night, leading it to its victory.

With its victory, Oklahoma will now compete against No. 15 Auburn once more, along with No. 7 Missouri and Arizona, in the regional final on at 9 p.m Sunday for the opportunity to travel to Fort Worth for the semifinals on ESPN+.
