Oklahoma football: What other OU Heisman winners have to say about Baker Mayfield

Senior quarterback Baker Mayfield is a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, which will be given out Saturday night. Here's what other Oklahoma Heisman winners have to say about him:

Steve Owens

"I think he's such a great competitor just the way he plays football. His leadership and desire to compete and to win, I'm a big fan. He's the kind of player, if you have a player like that on your team, you want to follow him. He's a great player. His competitive nature is incredible. I think he's got a great chance to win the Heisman. I get to vote each year. I like Baker a lot."

Billy Sims

"Chances are good. I know he's got four votes coming from Oklahoma. Third time might be the charm."

Jason White

“Man, he's a guy that you want on your team. I would personally want to be on his team. His leadership skills, his competitiveness is through the roof. I don't think there's a player out there that has that, what he has right there. With that being said, he's one of the best to put a Sooner uniform on. And so, just to watch him compete is just amazing to me, because you can never count him out. He's always got an answer or he's going to give it everything he's got to come up with one. That's amazing to me. And so, like I said, one of the best players to put a Sooner uniform and excited to see how he finished out the rest of the year.”

Sam Bradford

"I think Baker's going to win in a landslide. I don't think he has a ‘really good shot’ at it, I think it's pretty much a sure thing. But he's played great. Obviously, he's played great for the past three years. He's been close the past couple of years, but this year, I think he's really separated himself from everyone else in college football with the way he's played and he's really carried that team. I think people had doubts about them before the season. He's kind-of put them on his back and said listen, 'I'm going to take you guys as far as I can.' And I think it's been fun to just watch him and the way he plays. The energy he has each week. I enjoy tuning in and watching him play."
