Oklahoma basketball: Sooners survive rough start to beat TCU

No. 6 Oklahoma (24-6, 12-6 in Big 12) closes the regular season on a high note with a 75-67 victory against TCU (11-20, 2-16 in Big 12).

Oklahoma won despite a bevy of turnovers against TCU. The Sooners finished with 16 turnovers, making it the fourth consecutive game with double-digit turnovers.

Oklahoma pulled away in the second half, holding TCU to just 40 percent shooting after halftime. The Horned Frogs also struggled to take care of the ball, turning it over 17 times.

Four Sooners scored in double-digits. Guard Buddy Hield led the way with 21 points while Jordan Woodard chipped in 12 points and Isaiah Cousins filed in 10 points. Forward Ryan Spangler contributed 11 points and five rebounds.

KEY STAT: 34

 Oklahoma and TCU combined for 34 turnovers on Saturday. The Sooners and Horned Frogs coughed up the ball 17 times in the Oklahoma's eight-point victory. Both teams had ten turnovers in the first half. 

KEY SOONER: Buddy Hield

Buddy Hield was the constant for the Sooners today as he has been all season. The senior guard finished with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists on the night. This is Hield’s 22nd 20-point game of the season.

What's next

The Sooners will travel to Kansas City, Missouri for the Big 12 Championship. Oklahoma will be slotted as the No. 2 seed if Baylor defeats West Virginia on Saturday. If the Mountaineers win, Oklahoma will enter the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Sooners will resume on Thursday evening.
