“We offer a wide variety of programs in a really great cross-sector of health sciences, social sciences, education and emerging technology fields,” said Josh Davis, executive director of OU-Tulsa Student Affairs. “Our students regularly engage in interdisciplinary learning opportunities, interacting with students from degree programs that would never cross paths in most higher education environments.”

“While I'm a (physician assistant) student and I'm very busy within my program, I'm also very connected with medical students, physical therapy students, occupational therapy students, nursing students and other students on campus,” said Phoebe Wilson, who graduates in December.

In 2023, the OU-Tulsa Division of Student Affairs was awarded the Tulsa Higher Education Consortium’s Collaborative Champions Award, an award that recognizes an individual, group or team that embodies the spirit of collaboration, both within and outside their institution and works to bring forth innovative ideas and initiatives to promote student success.
“The work we do is meaningful, and the impact we have can be seen nearly every day, from checking in at new student orientation to walking across the stage at commencement,” Davis said.
A leader in health care and community advocacy
OU-Tulsa’s School of Community Medicine continues to be a leader in mental health advocacy through its Integrated Multidisciplinary Program of Assertive Community Treatment (IMPACT). Recognized in 2019 by the National Associate for Mental Illness-Tulsa for its commitment to providing intensive care for individuals with chronic mental illnesses, the IMPACT team remains a vital resource in Tulsa’s mental health landscape.
“Our students are usually extremely interested in what our program does because it isn’t something that many students typically get to experience during their time in medical/PA school,” said Jordan Parson, MD, IMPACT medical director. “Students often talk about how eye-opening it is being in the patient’s environment and how they want to consider that more in their future patient encounters.”
