South of the Links and Greens apartments and east of Classen Boulevard, Wiggin Properties, LLC has purchased 142 acres of property to build Liberty Point, a mixed-use recreational vehicle resort development intended for tourists, families and out-of-state football fans.
With OU joining the SEC this fall, Wiggin Properties believes the development of Liberty Point will benefit Norman and become a popular tourist destination for those planning on attending OU football games in the fall.
Kale Streeter, director of investments at Wiggin Properties, LLC, said the development will feature an aerial adventure park, an amphitheater, a luxury RV resort, a dog park, playgrounds, bike rentals, mini golf and more. Streeter said Wiggin Properties plans to break ground on approximately 252 full-hookup sites and 44 cabins in phase one alone.
Streeter said the aerial adventure park will feature a ropes course involving platforms and cables within the site’s existing trees to maintain the green space and utilize what's already on the property.

“The point is we're creating a strong, natural feel. The site has tons of trees, which is wonderful. We’re going to plan to keep as many trees as possible. But in addition to that, we're going to keep strong borders, so that even though it's relatively close to the city, it will feel like a campground experience,” Streeter said.
Streeter expects to close on the property within 45 days and open the resort by the 2025 OU football season. Norman City Council approved the project at its Tuesday meeting.
“Our target audience would be families within a two-to-three-hour area that want a destination resort to come to. We are going to cater to a lot of different people.” Streeter said.
Additionally, Streeter said Wiggin Properties, LLC will offer a shuttle service to transport visitors to and from the OU campus during the fall football season. This service will eliminate some of the foot traffic in Norman and make the resort more accessible to guests.
Dan Schemm, president and CEO of VisitNorman, told OU Daily the development will help the city economically by boasting things like sales tax.
“This just gives us one more asset for tourists to see and do. Our favorite thing when visitors come is OPM, other people's money, which helps fund our city and all the services that our citizens use,” Schemm said.
Schemm believes the development of Liberty Point will give Norman an upper edge in the metropolitan area and provide services that prove beneficial to locals and tourists.
“With Oklahoma City just twenty minutes away, there are lots of opportunities for people here, and where they choose to go spend their dollars. So anytime there's something that we don't have, like an adventure park, it gives those visitors a chance to stay and spend their money here in Norman, which is tremendous,” Schemm said.
Schemm and Wiggin Properties, LLC both agree that Liberty Point will be a future local hotspot, with amenities that everyone can enjoy.
“We're very excited to be a part of the community and to accommodate SEC fans when they do come to town; and to provide a good representation of the Oklahoma welcoming spirit,” Streeter said.
