Norman Ward 8 residents voted to elect Scott Dixon to city council, beating Kyle Hurley, on Tuesday.
Of the 1434 voters, Dixon received 52.86% of the votes and Hurley received 47.14%, according to unofficial results from the Oklahoma State Election Board.
Dixon told the OU Daily he aspires to make Norman the best it can be.
“I’d like to thank my supporters and the voters for believing in me,” Dixon said. “(I’m) excited to work with everyone in making Norman’s future the best it can be.”
Dixon added he wants Hurley to stay involved in city politics.
“We need great people like him on committees,” he said.
