Greek row will be getting a face-lift over the next few years, as several chapter houses are being reconstructed and renovated. Among these are Sigma Nu, Kappa Sigma, Beta Theta Pi and Alpha Gamma Delta.

Alpha Gamma Delta

Alpha Gamma Delta house is undergoing reconstruction after a fire damaged a section of the house in January. Construction is set to begin this month, with a goal completion date of fall 2015, said Kylie Frisby, chapter president and public relations senior.

Alpha Gamma Delta’s Fraternity Housing Corporation is funding the estimated $6 million project, and it is set to be the biggest house the corporation has built, Frisby said.

The construction will repair damage from the fire and subsequent water damage after a pipe broke, Frisby said. A new wing will also be added to the house.

Beta Theta Pi

The construction on the Beta Theta Pi house is on schedule to be completed July 2015, chapter president Jackson Lisle said.

The $9 million renovation will double the square footage, making the house 30,000 square feet, Lisle said. The renovations include:

• New eighty person study hall will be added to the basement.

• The former dining hall will be converted to an alumni museum to celebrate the history of the house on campus.

• The back end of the house will be expanded.

• The air conditioning will be modernized to be more energy efficient.

Before the renovation, 70 people lived in the house, and after the renovations, around 80 students are expected to live in the house, Lisle said.

“So, it’s really just increasing the number of space for the people living in making people more comfortable,” Lisle said.

Kappa Sigma

The construction of the Kappa Sigma house is well under way and set to be completed soon, according to pictures posted on the Kappa Sigma Twitter page.

A tour of the newly completed house is set for Oct. 18, according to the OU Kappa Sigma website.

The chapter broke ground on their new house Oct. 27, 2012 and tore down the old house July 2013, according to their website.

Kappa Sigma president Tyler Spencer could not be reached for comment after four email attempts beginning Sept. 4.

Sigma Nu

Sigma Nu, which returned to OU during the fall of 2012, broke ground on Sept. 1, 2013 for their new house, according to the chapter’s Twitter page.

Construction of the house began Oct. 24, 2013, and the house is scheduled to be ready for members to move into by fall 2014, according to the OU Sigma Nu website. (http://www.ousigmanu.com/chapter-house)

Sigma Nu president Dylan Droege could not be reached for comment after four email attempts beginning Sept. 4.
