The OU Provost is forming a search committee for dean of the College of International Studies about 2 ½ months after removing the former dean from her position.
The Daily obtained an email to CIS faculty from Provost Kyle Harper, in which he said the college’s dean search will be nationally advertised. David Wrobel, the College of Arts and Sciences dean who was appointed in June 2018, will chair the search committee, according to the email.
A letter acquired by The Daily that was sent to College of International Studies faculty.
“The charge to the search committee will be to forward the names of the final candidates to the President,” Harper said in the email.
Harper said the committee will have nine members: the chair, two faculty members from CIS, two faculty members from other campus colleges, one faculty member appointed by Faculty Senate, one staff member appointed by Staff Senate, one student appointed by Graduate Student Senate and one “external individual with a stake in continuing the vibrant and exciting initiatives” of the college.
In the email, Harper said he is now seeking at least four CIS faculty nominations to fill the two CIS spots on the committee. The submissions are due by 5 p.m. April 8.
“I seek your nominations of regular faculty from the college who are willing to be considered for possible service on the search committee,” Harper said in the email. “Please verify their willingness to serve on the committee prior to forwarding to me their names, but remind them that the final selection will be made by the President.”
The news comes after Gallogly and Harper removed Suzette Grillot, former CIS dean, from her position on Jan. 18. Grillot has filed a lawsuit against the two men and the OU Board of Regents, alleging workplace retaliation, wage discrimination and tortious interference of business relations.
